HKS 35th Anniversary Event
February 3, 2008In 1973, America, Western Europe and Japan were suffering through the adverse effects of an OPEC-triggered oil crisis. The ‘73 oil crisis caused major concern worldwide about rising fuel prices, gasoline rationing and long lines at the pump. Even motorsports’ biggest spectacles, such as the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500, made modifications to their events to reflect the trend in fuel conservation that year.
In a climate so clearly concerned with economizing, the founding fathers of HKS Japan must have had a tremendous amount of guts and fortitude to open an automotive high-performance parts manufacturing company in 1973. With such a fearless attitude, it’s no wonder HKS has been releasing groundbreaking products for the last three and half decades.
This past January 27, HKS threw a huge festival at Fuji Speedway to celebrate 35 years of being in business. The party was action packed from the get-go. Both the main circuit and drift course had constant action throughout the day.

January 22, 2008Endless / Zeal / Ewig
January 21, 2008Endless / Zeal / Ewig at the Toyko Auto Salon. Here is a picture of the new monoblock caliper that Endless now offers. I suspect this is a caliper to compete with the Brembo GTR line of brakes. I love the detail on the bell.
Some of the cars present at the Endless booth. Notice on the R35 Enkei’s new 2-piece version of the GTC01.
Advan’s Great Wall of Wheels
January 20, 2008This is was Advan’s display at the Toyko Auto Salon. I wish I could have a wheel collection like that!

Here is a close-up picture of the new Advan RZ. I really like this wheel a lot. Some people has mistaken it for the Advan RS wheel, but there is such a huge difference, I’m not sure how it could be mistaken.

Advan AVS Model T7. This wheel has been out for a while, but I was never that popular. I was browsing pictures from the TAS and noticed the wheels on an R35. I have to say this wheel design is amazing when it’s on a car.

January 17, 2008Invision Evo Completed
January 16, 2008Word is Invision had Wald in Japan build and tune this JDM Evo 8 for the Tokyo Auto Salon. They were originally going to ship a Evo 9 over to get tuned, but they sold that and sourced a JDM Evo8 over in Japan. They had the body stitch welded and (from what I hear) had the body acid dipped. The Evo got plenty of love from Endless / Zeal and AME. This Evo debuted the new AME TM-02 wheels
